Guests of Stroud Recreations programs must respect each others' safety by wearing a mask indoors, as per CDC guidelines. For outdoor activities, masking is currently optional for vaccinated or socially distanced individuals.

Our interpretive walks provide company, conversation, and nature knowledge. Relax, get some fresh air, and enjoy the views of the season!

1st Wednesday: Yetter Park

198-184 Wilson Ave,

East Stroudsburg, PA

All first Wednesdays of the month will meet at Yetter Park and loop north around Brodhead Creek Park for a total walking distance of 2.2 miles. Points of interest: man-made waterfall, forest. This is a flat, gravel trail.


2nd Wednesday: Yetter Park

198-184 Wilson Ave,

East Stroudsburg, PA

All second Wednesdays of the month will meet at Yetter Park and loop 1.5 miles south around East Stroudburg High School for a total walking distance of 1.5 miles. Points of interest: creekside, forest. This is a flat, gravel trail.

3rd Wednesday: Forevergreen
1539 Cherry Lane Rd,

East Stroudsburg, PA

All third Wednesdays of the month will meet at Forevergreen Nature Preserve and walk an outer and inner loop for a total walking distance of 1.5 miles. Points of interest: forest, meadow. This is a mostly flat trail with some hills. The trail is part gravel, part grass. In wet conditions, there may be mud.

4th Wednesday: Glen Park

152 Collins St,

Stroudsburg, PA

All fourth Wednesdays of the month, will meet at Glen Park on Collins Street for an out-and-back trail—a total walking distance of 1.5 miles. Points of interest: creekside, forest. This gravel trail. Has some small changes in elevation, roots, rocks, and mud.

5th Wednesday (if applicable): 

Levee Loop Trailhead.

If there is a fifth Wednesdays of the month, we will meet that week at the Levee Loop Trailhead in Dansbury Park and loop North to East Stroudsburg High School (2 mile loop.)

A wee bit of magic is on its way to Stroud Area parks! Fairy doors are all over Ireland; for the month of St. Patrick’s Day, they’ll be at our parks, too. We’ll post a picture of a new fairy door every week on Instagram and Facebook. Find the door, take a picture with it, and post it either on your story or Instagram feed with @StroudRec tagged. You’ll be entered in a drawing to win the fairies’ favor: lucky winners win a personal fairy door for their home garden!

Meets at Forevergreen Nature Preserve

 

Watch the bird feeder for visitors and tally up the species we see, then take an optional stroll around the preserve in search of more feathered friends. Maybe we’ll see the eagles! Participants are citizen scientists: data collected will be reported to a national database. Whether the program will be outdoors or indoors depends on virus mitigation efforts and weather at the time of the program.

Dog trainer David J. Henon of University of Pets will give a FREE training session! Bring your dog to go over basic commands and how it can help solve many behavior issues. Learn about the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen and how it can help you get discounts on your homeowners policy and how your dog can become a therapy dog.

Glen Brook Golf Course.

Walk the rolling hills of Glen Brook Golf Course on pristine snow! 

This activity is weather dependent, so it currently is unscheduled. Sign up here for our notification list-- commitment free! If enough snow falls this winter, we will email people on the notification list with dates and times of snowshoe walks. Email us back to schedule your time from there! 

Snowshoe rentals are available on a first-come first-serve basis-- so stay cognizant of you inbox for notice on snowy days! Conditions generally have to be 6" of snow and chilled air (not slushy).

Jan. 8th: Pinebrook Park
4070 N 5th St,

East Stroudsburg, PA

This stroll is pushed back one week in observance of the New Years Holiday. A quiet, streamside winter stroll of 1 mile. Flat, wide, gravel walk. Estimated time 45 minutes-1 hour. This walk meets at Pinebrook Park North Parking Lot. It is on North 5th Street Across from Hallet Road.


Feb. 5th: Terra Greens

123 Terragreen Drive,
East Stroudsburg, PA

A winter hike along a mossy path and pond beside Terra Greens Golf Course. About 2 miles. Some cardio-heavy hills. Some roots in the trail but mostly moss, grass or gravel. Estimated time 1.5 hours. This walk meets at 123 Terragreen Drive in East Stroudsburg.

Mar. 5th: Cherrry Valley National Wildlife Refuge
2138 Crossdale Rd,

Stroudsburg, PA

An invigorating loop over the creek and through the meadows of Cherry Valley’s “lower nine loop.” About 1.5 miles. Paved trail; mostly flat with some cardio-inducing hills. Estimated time 1-1.5 hours. There are two Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuges in the area. We will meet at the one that was once a golf course: 2138 Crossdale Rd, Stroudsburg, PA. Please make sure that you are heading to the right address before you start your drive. Please note that dogs are NOT allowed at this location.

Apr. 2: Mount Nebo

230 Mt Nebo Road,

East Stroudsburg, PA

A forest hike at a Poconovian altitude. 2 miles. Wooded trails with some roots, rocks and fallen logs. Some very demanding hills, but no huge climbs in elevation. Estimated time 1.5-2 hours. Meets at Mount Nebo Regional Park: 230 Mt Nebo Road, East Stroudsburg.

Get out of the house and play Pickleball with friends or family! We have an easy basic rule sheet posted, and all the equipment needed to get you started.

Levee Loop Trail Race
& Fitness Walk Fundraiser

A 4.5 Mile Run, or 2.6 Mile Fitness Walk along the Levee Loop Trail. Raise funds for Stroud Greenways while enjoying one of our favorite greenways! Participants get a commemorative t-shirt. Rain or shine. T-shirts are not guaranteed if you register after May 24th.
 

The Levee Loop Trail Run is mostly even ground, but does have uneven terrain between Creekview Park and Stokes Mill Park. We recommend walking this stretch of the trail to see the more difficult terrain. Walkers will be on even gravel or grass paths.

Refund Policies:
 

Public Program Refund Policy

All refunds for a public program must be requested at least 12 hours before the start of the program and will be evaluated for approval. Refunds will be processed within 30 days of approved request, and will be in check form (no cash refunds permitted.) In the event a participant is suspended or dismissed from the program due to disorderly conduct or a breach of the liability agreement, a refund will not be issued. A service charge may be assessed on all refund requests. A full refund will be issued if the Commission cancels a program.
