Eastern Monroe Public Library and Stroud Recreation want you to be able to enjoy the outdoors AND a great children's book at the same time!
Featuring Froodle by Antoinette Portis! Our storybook trail is a fifteen-minute walk along Zacharias Pond Park's woodland trail. The trail starts north of the parking lot, past the pavilion.

Mar 4, 2023; Terra Greens; East Stroudsburg Borough and Terra Greens Golf Club
A winter hike along a mossy path and pond beside Terra Greens Golf Course. About 2 miles. Some cardio-heavy hills. Some roots in the trail but mostly moss, grass or gravel. Estimated time 1.5 hours. This walk meets at 123 Terragreen Drive in East Stroudsburg.
Mar 25, 2023; McMichael Greenway; Stroud Township
A wooded walk along the north side of Godfrey Ridge, with views into the creek below. Little streams, moss and relatively undisturbed woodland throughout. About 1.5 miles. Roots, rock, and some hills. There will be mud and some tiny stream crossings. Estimated time 1 hour. Meets at 5494 Glenbrook Rd, Stroudsburg, PA
April 29, 2023; Creekview Park; Stroud Township
A loop along forest, athletic field, and stream bank. 1.75 miles. Flat, gravel path, then wooded path with some roots, and rocks. Some quick sections of steeper terrain require dexterity and balance. Estimated time 1 hour. To find location, turn off of N. 5th street onto Appenzeller Ave, then keep right to go down the hill on Powerhouse Lane. Stay straight for 600 feet. We will meet at a small gravel lot on the right side, 0.2 miles before the larger main park parking lot.

June 24 2023; Kurmes Preserve; Pocono Heritage Land Trust
A refreshing, though slightly challenging, hiking loop of 2 miles. Rhododendrons hug the trail, and a creek meets the trail at certain points. Meets at 335 Devils Hole Road, Cresco, PA.
July 29, 2023 Two Ponds Trail; Pocono Environmental Education Center
A relaxing stroll over wetland boardwalk and out to pickerel pond, then back again. 1.5 miles. Wooded path with some rocks and roots. Estimated time 1 hour. Meets at 538 Emery Road, Dingmans Ferry, PA. Several other trails at all difficulty levels start at this lot for easy individual exploring, should you wish to extend your explorations.
August 26, 2023; Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge; U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service
An invigorating walk over the creek and rolling hills of Cherry Valley’s “top nine loop.” About 2 miles. Paved trail; several cardio-inducing hills. Estimated time 1-1.5 hours. There are two Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuges in the area. We will meet at the one that was once a golf course: 2138 Crossdale Rd, Stroudsburg, PA. Please make sure that you are heading to the right address before you start your drive. Please note that dogs are not allowed at this location.
September 30, 2023; Mount Nebo; Middle Smithfield & Smithfield Townships
A forest hike at a Poconovian altitude. 2 miles. Wooded trails with some roots, rocks and fallen logs. Some very demanding hills and challenging downward slopes, but no huge climbs in elevation. Estimated time 1.5-2 hours. Meets at Mount Nebo Regional Park: 230 Mt Nebo Road, East Stroudsburg.
October 28, 2022; Glen Park; Stroudsburg Borough
An adventurous rhododendron-lined out-and-back trail along the lower Brodhead Creek. About 1.5 miles. Wooded trail with roots, rocks, some mud, and varying inclines, but no large hills. Estimated time 1 hour. Meets at Glen Park: 152 Collins Street, Stroudsburg.
November 25, 2023; No stroll this month due to holiday.
December 30, 2023; Levee Loop Trail Community Walk
Close out 2023 with a 4.5 mile guided yoga walk around the Brodhead Creek between Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg. In partnership with Boundless Yoga, there will be and introductory stretch, along with one planned stop for short-standing sequences and plenty of opportunities for impromptu yoga along the trail. Varying views and terrain, from wooded forest paths, to bridges, to the top of the grassy levee itself. Some short roadside sections; some quick sections of steeper terrain require dexterity and balance. Meets at Yetter Park (19), 198-184 Wilson Ave (end of Roosevelt Ave.), East Stroudsburg, PA

All first Wednesdays of the month will meet at Yetter Park and loop north around Brodhead Creek Park for a total walking distance of 2.2 miles. Points of interest: man-made waterfall, forest. This is a flat, gravel trail.
2nd Wednesday: Yetter Park
198-184 Wilson Ave,
East Stroudsburg, PA
All second Wednesdays of the month will meet at Yetter Park and loop 1.5 miles south around East Stroudburg High School for a total walking distance of 1.5 miles. Points of interest: creekside, forest. This is a flat, gravel trail.
3rd Wednesday: Forevergreen
1539 Cherry Lane Rd,
East Stroudsburg, PA
All third Wednesdays of the month will meet at Forevergreen Nature Preserve and walk an outer and inner loop for a total walking distance of 1.5 miles. Points of interest: forest, meadow. This is a mostly flat trail with some hills. The trail is part gravel, part grass. In wet conditions, there may be mud.
4th Wednesday:
4070 North 5th St,
East Stroudsburg, PA
On fourth Wednesdays, we will meet at Pinebrook Park North Parking Lot and walk south, crossing into Brodhead Creek Park, looping, and returning. (2.25 mile loop.) The trail is all gravel and very flat other than one large hill between the two parks.

99 East 3rd St,
East Stroudsburg, PA
All fifth Wednesdays of the month (if applicable), will meet at Zacharias Pond Park for an out-and-back trail which crosses Independence Road and goes through the Gregory's Pond trails. Total walking distance of about 1.5 miles. This trail is mostly flat gravel with some hills. Some parts of the trail are more wooded. One short section is rocky, requiring some balance and dexterity. Points of interest: ponds, forest, geology, view of Terra Greens golf course.

Join staff from the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) for a detailed look into the animals that call our local parks home. Identify wildlife and signs of wildlife activity while learning about relationships between wildlife as well as our impact as humans. Program will include games and activities as well as up-close examination of pelts and skulls. The program will begin at the Dansbury Park Levee Loop Trailhead. Great activity for families with kids!
Fall Recreational Archery

Archery is a precise and strengthening skill, in addition to being just plain fun! Learn, practice and perfect your aim with us! Whether you’re trying archery for the first time, or practicing your already established technique, you are welcome to join us! We'll set up our range on Tuesday evenings for four consecutive weeks. Compound bows and arrows will be supplied. Personal bows and arrows are not permitted for safety.
$40 for one mom and one child.
$5 each additional child.
$35 additional mom.

Dress up together with your little one as super spies, ninjas, pirates, heroes, or in black tie attire! Masquerade as whatever your hearts’ desire! There will be dancing, a photobooth and refreshments! Please register under just one mother’s name. One child will be automatically admitted with your registration. You will need your emailed registration receipt to enter.

A game of make-believe for all ages! A friendly fortuneteller has invited you to the grand opening of the new shop, Percy’s Predictions! But beware, everyone in attendance has secrets, and one of them may be planning the fortuneteller’s downfall! Spend an evening play-acting, finding clues, meeting friends and (pretend) foes, and solving mysteries! Punch and light snacks will be provided.

The Levee Loop Trail Run is mostly even ground, but does have uneven terrain between Creekview Park and Stokes Mill Park. We recommend walking this stretch of the trail to see the more difficult terrain. Walkers will be on even gravel or grass paths.

Go exploring with your little one: get some energy out, meet friends, and find critters! We'll be providing hands-on outdoor adventures, activities and crafts for kids aged 3-5 years old. We ask that one parent/ guardian stays with their child for this program.

Youth Infusion, Trips for Kids Pocono Flow is going for a bike ride along part of the Levee Loop Trail! The Pocono Flow program takes kids out on scenic, fun and safe riding adventures. Bikes and helmets are available for youth at no cost on a first-come, first-serve basis. Youth of all ages and families are encouraged to participate. Come catch and identify different aquatic creatures and experiment with testing kits to learn how to analyze the health of a waterway. We’ll also teach you what you can do to have a positive impact on keeping our rivers and streams healthy! Great activity for families with kids – dress to get a little wet!

Join us at the Eqinox for S’mores and Stargazing! We’ll start with a campfire, then take a nighttime lantern lit stroll out to a telescope, where an astronomer will show you our local universe and answer questions. Josie Porter Farm is located at 6514 Cherry Valley Rd, Stroudsburg, PA.
