New trail on the way! Thanks to the Brodhead Creek Regional Authority, the new trail will run along the Brodhead Creek connecting Yetter Park (and the Levee Loop Trail) to Brodhead Creek Park. More Info
Levee Loop Trail Hard Surfacing Project Starting this spring a hard surface will be added to the most used segment of the Levee Loop Trail: from the Veterans Memorial Bridge northward on the eastern side to the Dansbury Trailhead. More Info
Seventh Street Bridge replacement When completed this November, the new Seventh Street Bridge will once again offer pedestrians safe passage on its sidewalks to the other side. A cleaned-up and improved Rotary Creek Park along the scenic south bank of the McMichael Creek will reopen to the public. More Info
Glen Park to Glen Brook Trail DCNR awarded a grant to the Regional Commission for a “Glen to Glen Feasibility Study” that will look at linkages between two regional parks, Glen Park and Glen Brook Golf Club, their recreation facilities, adjacent lands, and the Levee Loop Trail. More on this study.
Introducing the Stroud Greenway logo! We are happy to present the winning entry designed by Dana Murk, a recent ESU business/marketing graduate. The graphic features a leaf with three blue veins representing the region’s waterways, a depiction of our interactive lifestyles in the Greenway, and the beautifully true tag line of “Connecting Neighborhoods to Nature.” More Info
Awards & Recognitions Bryant Park was recently recognized with a Community Greening Award by the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society “for an outstanding public planting…improving the quality of life through horticulture.”
Dansbury Park was voted Best Community Park in the 2011 Reader’s Choice Awards by the Pocono Times.
Executive Director Tim Herd recently earned the Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) certification granted by the National Certification Board in conjunction with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). The CPRE program recognizes advanced skills and competencies related to the professional practice and delivery of park and recreation programs and services. Herd is among the first in the nation earn this new certification. CPRE signifies to the public that the leaders of park and recreation agencies seek to uphold the highest standards of service for the communities they serve.
