Stroud Kids School Holiday Specials
Looking for a safe and structured program for your child on school holidays or during parent/teacher conferences?  Drop them off at the Day Street Community Center for Stroud Kids School Holidays!  Based on our popular Stroud Kids Summer Day Camp program, children spend time enjoying active and passive games, arts and crafts, team building, leadership skills, and snacks.  Special events include a Wii gaming system, ping-pong and pool tables; and winter allows for full access to sledding at Dansbury Park and other holiday surprises!  Transportation is not provided.  Program activities are held inside and outside – please dress your children appropriately.  Our Stroud Kids staff are certified in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED, and possess all appropriate clearances.

Parents Night Out!
Parents may drop off their little ones to enjoy games, crafts, activities, snacks, and a movie while they enjoy a night on the town!  All participants are supervised by qualified staff certified in American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid, and who have all required clearances.

Green Thumbs Workshop
Spring is here and it's time to get our gardens in the ground! Participants learn what to plant, the best time and location to plant, watering, and harvesting. Each gardeners will go home with a freshly painted pot with a sweet surprise!

Start Smart Youth Soccer
Start Smart prepares children ages 4-7 for organized soccer in a fun, non-threatening environment.  The set of skills taught include dribbling, kicking and passing, trapping and throw-ins, and agility.  Exercises become more challenging as the class advances and children show improvement.  Parents are required to attend and participate with their children.  Classes are held outside, please dress appropriately for weather conditions.

Start Smart Youth Basketball
Start Smart teaches children ages 4-7 a variety of basketball skills including dribbling, ball handling, shooting, passing, catching, running, and agility.  Exercises become more challenging as the class advances and children show improvement.  Parents are required to attend and participate with their children.

Ralley Ball Tennis
Ralley Ball is tennis as an organized team sport with modified serving and scoring to make it easy and fun!  A six-person team participates in a one-hour lesson and half-hour match.  Each participant receives a uniform t-shirt and enjoys an end-of-the-season celebration.

Karate
Develop self-discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills while learning to defend yourself and having a great time!  Certified instructors from Paskiet Martial Arts Academy teach age-appropriate Isshin Ryu karate for children and adults.

American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training
This course provides youth ages 11-15 with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants.  This training helps participants develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe while on the job, help children behave, and learn about the tenants of proper child care, as well as basic first aid.

Girl Scout Yoga Fun Patch
Girl Scouts have fun getting in touch with their inner goddess. Participants learn techniques to appreciate their body, mind, and spirit through breath and yoga poses. Scouts discover patience and leave the workshop with a new sense of self and respect for movement. Each girl receives a handout to encourage their very own yoga practice and a Yoga Badge that is ready to affix onto their sash! Instructor Nadya is a certified yoga instructor and former Girl Scout.

Young Artists

Young Artist begin with improvisational games and exercises to spark the imagination and build confidence and use visual and rhythmic games to encourage creativity.  There is no structured "acting" instruction - this class is all about having fun and getting young children used to working in a social setting.

Young Actors

Young Actors II
Improvisation is used as a foundation to strengthen creativity while students work on longer scenes that require additional memorization outside the program. Video Game Animation 1
Dive into the world of video game animation by creating characters that dance, sing and interact with one another. Add sound effects and music clips to create a dynamic video animation game using an innovative programming language created just for kids by the MIT Media Lab. Creativity rules in this fun version of video game design!

Digital Moviemaking
Join us for the COMPUTER EXPLORERS Film Festival. Students create all the artistic elements for their movies including characters, costumes & sets. Rock & Roll Robots
Create robots that rock and robots that roll! Using the LEGO™ We Do Robotics System your robots will include a monkey who plays a drum to a rock & roll beat, a lion that roars, a bird that flaps it wings to create a big wind, a sleeping giant who will awaken on your command and a boat that will rock on the rough seas. This course builds knowledge of simple machines, engineering, programming, and teamwork in an environment full of Rockin’ Fun!
