Sweet Feet Soccer Camp

Stroud Region Open Space & Recreation Commission is excited to bring to the area for the first time ever Sweet Feet Soccer to run a soccer camp for our local youth.  With the help of athELITE Performance Training and Notre Dame Jr./Sr. High School we hope to turn this into an annual soccer camp.  Sweet Feet is a soccer and education program for children that works to create lifetime learners that appreciate physical activity and health.  They teach soccer and movement education to students through a theme based curriculum that is based on fun, learning, and passion development.  Sweet Feet is leading young people towards a healthy mind and body for the future of the 21st century!

Paint in the Parks

Come out in support of Friends of SROSRC be painting in parks.  Participants will be provided with light refreshments, a canvas, paint, an apron, and paint brushes during the event.  Afterward, participants will take their painting home to enjoy.  This event series will benefit the Friends of SROSRC, which supports the events and programs SROSRC provides.

Description:  This event will be uniquely different from previous Paint in the Parks events.  It will feature a Wine Glass to be painted, Hot and Cold hors d’oeuvres, and fountain drinks, in a historical 1790’s farmhouse previously owned by John Stroud, Son of Colonel Jacob Stroud Founder of Stroudsburg. 
Date and Time: Friday, May 12th, 7-9 p.m.

Break out a bottle of wine (BYOB) for this Paint in the Parks event.  Pick something to pair with Strawberries on this night of the Strawberry Full Moon.  To complement your drink of choice in addition to strawberries we will have cheese and crackers, crudité platter, as well as bottled water.

Parents bring your child(ren) out and work on this Magic in the Park painting together.  Perfect for families, we will provide kid friendly drinks and snacks.

Philadelphia "On Your Own" Bus Trip

See historic Philadelphia without the drive.  You’re on your own to enjoy the sites.  Visit to plan your day. Bus will drop and pick up near “Old City Philadelphia ” The Liberty Bell Center, Independence Hall, Congress Hall, the New Hall Military Museum, Franklin Court, the Bishop White House and the Graff House are just some of the buildings that make up Independence National Historical Park — all of which are free.

Fire Mountain Taekwondo Academy has been offering quality, affordable martial arts training for children and adults since February 1997. *This is a monthly, year-round program, which meets twice per week.* Taekwondo is a Korean martial arts system of unarmed combat. A student will develop body, mind, and spirit as a result of the training journey from beginner white belt to the advanced black belt. Classes consist of warm-up exercises to develop cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. Curriculum involves learning martial arts techniques: blocks, strikes, kicks, forms, sparring, rolling and falling, weapons and breathing exercises.

Dates & Times: This is a monthly year-round program, which meets twice per week: 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays and 6:30-7:30p.m. Fridays

*NEW* Self Defense for Women (once a month) Starting March 14th

The success of our seasonal offering has motivated the creation of an open club that will meet on a monthly basis.  Participants will be introduced to self-defense techniques in a safe, community environment.  Monthly topics will focus on responses to specific threating situations.  No experience necessary and open to join at any time.  Pre-registration preferred but walk-ins will be accepted.

Parks for Good Living

Join us in our parks as we explore, learn, encourage health wellness, and simply enjoy being outside in the fresh air.  One Saturday a month we will hold an event at one of our parks in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network, HJP Park and Open Space Commission, and West End Park and Open Space Commission, and we would love to see you there.

Family Swim Fridays

Family Swim Fridays are starting back up, come out and enjoy some pool time with the family.  Family Swim Friday is time for the entire family to swim and enjoy the pool during the colder months.  Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Swim diapers are required for those not potty trained and lifejackets are available if needed. 

Location: Chipperfield Elementary School Pool
Dates and Times: Fridays, February 24th-May 5th (excluding April 14th) 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Cost: $5.00 a person/$15.00 for a family 4 pack

*Groups of 10 or more, please call 48 hours in advanced at 570-426-1512 to ensure adequate staffing.

Lap Swim/Water Walk

Improve muscle strength, gain flexibility, increase endurance, and burn calories at the same time as relieving stress and anxiety in a healthy manor.  Swimming is an extremely good form of exercise as it is easy on the joints because it doesn’t have the impact of gravity that we deal with on land.  Workout at your leisure and at your pace.

Location: Chipperfield Elementary School Pool
Dates and Times: Wednesdays, March 8th - May 3rd 6:30-8 p.m. 
Cost: $5 to be paid in cash at the pool
