Adult Tennis

Tennis, nearly everyone? Beginners and players wishing to improve are placed on teams of same skill levels and compete each week in fun, friendly matches.  Play on a team with your spouse, friends, neighbors, or some new tennis friends.  Sign up as a group or come as an individual and meet new teammates.

Beginner Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport, and a self-defense system that focuses
on grappling and especially ground fighting. Our beginner’s level Jiu-jitsu program. Students learn the most important techniques for self-defense in a fun, safe and cooperative atmosphere.

Karate

Develop self-discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills while learning to defend yourself and having a great time. Certified Instructors from Paskiet Martial Arts Academy teach age-appropriate Isshin Ryu karate for children and adults. This class offers a unique and light-hearted but disciplined atmosphere that keeps students interested as they learn new skills and push to excel.

Rahz Chair Fitness: for Seniors and Special Need Individuals

Join instructor Rosalyn Gilmore for an effective modified program designed to tone and reshape your body. This version of Rahz Circuit Training uses the chair for support for those who cannot stand for long periods of time.

Zumba

Yoga on the Ball

Yoga on the Ball is a unique workout improving balance and core with focused breath. Using a stability ball and incorporating familiar traditional yoga poses, we’ll have some fun encouraging flexibility and building up endurance. No prior experience needed! Intermediate Knitting

Learn how to knit an adult or child’s sweater from the top down using DK weight yarn. This is a great project to continue your learning of knitting skills. Instructor Mary Ann Layne will take your crochet skills to the advanced level with a ladies short sleeve crocheted cardigan! American Red Cross Training

All American Red Cross Classes are taught by a certified American Red Cross Instructor. Do you have a group of 6 or more participants? We will come out to your facility to train or we can arrange a class at the Day Street Community Center at your convenience! Fees are subject to change due to possible changes in American Red Cross certification requirements.

Adult CPR/AED Training

Learn CPR and Automated External Defibrillator skills for taking care of adults in emergencies, as well as how to care for cardiac emergencies and choking.

Writers’ Workshop

This course is for students who already have a good grasp of grammar and punctuation and who would like to write, or are already writing, short stories, memoirs or novels. Students will learn how to constructively critique and improve their writing through short class assignments, use of dialogue, attention to the story’s voice and tone, character development and specific concentration on creating a picture with words. Minimum of four students per class; maximum of ten.

Memoir Writing

Memoirs are memories. This class will show students how to convert their memories into interesting stories of their lives to be passed down for generations to come. Students must already have a good grasp of grammar, punctuation and sentence structure.  Minimum of four students per class; maximum of ten.

Individual Writing Critique, Edit and Suggestions for Your Stories and Memoirs

Cannot make the classes but would like some constructive criticism and suggestions for how to improve your writing? For a period of thirty days, you will have e-mail access to your teacher who will read, edit and constructively critique your writing and answer your questions. All you need is access to a computer. Maximum of 50  pages per session.

Women’s Health with Herbs

This empowering and informative workshop will offer women the tools necessary to gracefully navigate normal changes as we grow and mature. We will address how we can support the natural transitions of womanhood through assistance from the plant kingdom.  We will not be discussing pathology but how we may support overall women's health and use herbs to lessen some common concerns.  As usual, there will be herbal sampling, demonstrations and an informative handout.

Herbal Bodycare

Our skin is our biggest organ!  The national trend towards organic food is important but so is the quality of what we put on our skin.  This fun and interactive class will show participants how they can make simple and nourishing skin treatments from common household pantry items.  Participants will learn how to actually prepare the items and take home small samples of their efforts.  An informative handout will also be provided

Introduction to Steel Drum Technique and Playing

This 8 week class teaches the basic elements in Steel Drum playing. The classes consist of a history of the steel drum using video & audio technology, stick/mallet techniques, instrument note layout, music theory, scales and percussion techniques.

This obedience class is for dogs over four months and older with no formal training.  Controlled walking, sit, down, stay & come commands.
