East Stroudsburg Youth Association
The East Stroudsburg Youth Association (ESYA) is a nonprofit youth organization providing athletic programs for those who attend Kindergarten through Grade 8 in the East Stroudsburg Area School District schools.
Athletic programs include football, flag football, cheerleading, wrestling, basketball, t-ball, and softball. Each program has its own program requirements, registration fees, and fundraising. Activities are held at East Stroudsburg Borough Parks, East Stroudsburg Area School District Schools, and the Nicoletti Fields located in Minisink Park in Smithfield Twp.
ESYA is always looking for volunteers to coach and to assist with programs and fundraising. If interested, please contact the organization through www.esya.usa. Meetings are held each first Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm at the Nicoletti Clubhouse located in Dansbury Park. All are welcome to attend and get involved.
ESYA Youth Basketball Dates: November 2009 – March 2010 Register by November 27 Fee: $70/per child (includes $30 for raffle ticket fundraiser) Location: East Stroudsburg School District Schools Players are taught the fundamentals of the game and play organized games against other ESYA teams. ESYA Youth Basketball is divided into two categories: Grades 3-4 and Grades 5-6. Each player receives an ESYA T-shirt and trophy. Sign up online through the registration link above or at ESYA Clubhouse at Dansbury Park on Tuesday, November 10 or Saturday, November 14.
ESYA Youth Wrestling As members of the Valley Elementary Wrestling League, participants learn the basics of wrestling including holds and moves, and attend tournaments where they compete by weight class. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade who attend the East Stroudsburg Area School District Schools, including Notre Dame, are eligible for the program. Varsity & JV Wrestling Dates: Practice begins November 3 and continues through February Register by October 23 Fee: $70 (includes $25 Raffle Ticket Fundraiser) Location: East Stroudsburg South Stadium Varsity and JV wrestlers participate in the Valley Elementary Wrestling League, a highly completive league, which has been ranked by ESPN the best wrestling league in the country. All participants receive a t-shirt and shorts. Headgear is required and can be provided.
Novice Wrestling Dates: Practice begins November 4 and continues through February Register by October 23 Fee: $50 (includes $25 Raffle Ticket Fundraise) Location: East Stroudsburg South Stadium Novice wrestling is designed for first and second year wrestling up to and including third grade. Practices are followed with matches against team members and opposing teams. All participants receive a t-shirt and shorts. Headgear is required and can be provided. Sign-ups for t-ball, cheerleading, football and flag football are scheduled to open in March and April.
